A love celebrated on coast of California in Big Sur.

Tiffany and Paul knew exactly what they wanted for their beachside elopement in Big Sur, California. Tiffany reached out and about 5 minutes into our conversation, she was already excited about the plans we had in mind for her special wedding day. "I want big, epic cliffs overlooking the ocean, and a nice private spot for us to get married. Something simple, something romantic." I knew Garrapata Beach was the spot! Garrapata State Beach is a public beach about 10 miles south of Carmel, California. It is a beautiful beach with incredible views and large rock formations.

She and Paul flew in from Canada to celebrate here in Big Sur. We walked along the cliffs at Garrapata for her private ceremony with Dean Liapis. It was a sweet ceremony. We hung out for a while, took some photos, then made our way down to the beach.

If you're looking for a stunning location for your wedding, Garrapata Beach may be just what you're looking for. With its picturesque coastline, breathtaking sunsets, and the soothing sound of waves crashing in the background, it's the perfect place to exchange vows and start your new life together. Let's talk more about this beautiful destination and start planning your dream wedding.

Why choose Garrapata Beach for your elopement or wedding?

Garrapata Beach offers a unique and unforgettable setting for your wedding day. With its stunning natural beauty, you'll have a backdrop that's sure to impress your guests (or just you if you're planning something smaller) and create lasting memories. The sound of waves crashing in the background and the sun setting over the ocean will provide a romantic and dreamy atmosphere for your special day. Plus, with plenty of nearby accommodations and amenities, you and your guests can enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable wedding weekend.

What is the best time of year to take photos at Garrapata Beach?

The best time of year to take photos at Garrapata Beach is during the summer months, from June to August. During this time, the weather is warm and sunny, and the ocean is calm and clear. However, keep in mind that this is also peak tourist season, so the beach may be more crowded. If you're looking for a quieter time to take photos, consider visiting in the spring or fall when the weather is still pleasant but there are fewer visitors.

Tips for planning a Garrapata Beach wedding.

Planning a wedding at Garrapata Beach requires some extra considerations due to its remote location and natural surroundings. Here are some tips to help you plan your dreamy destination wedding:

1) Hire a local wedding planner who knows the area and can help with logistics (like me!).

2) Consider the weather and tides when choosing a ceremony time and location. (always keep a close eye on weather reports as conditions can fluctuate often on the coast.)

3) Inform your guests about the beach's rules and regulations, such as no alcohol or glass containers allowed. This specific beach requires an official permit to host your wedding, elopement, or photoshoot. Luckily for you, I have annual permits for Garrapata Beach and so you don't have to worry about that whole tedious process. But, for more information on photography permits at State Beaches, check out this website:

https://film.ca.gov/state-permits/

4) Have a backup plan in case of inclement weather. (I like to bring clear umbrellas for rainy seasons, etc.)

5) Embrace the natural beauty of the beach and keep decorations simple and minimalistic. My motto is "less is more".
