As a Monterey wedding photographer, The Barns at Cooper Molera is one of my absolute favorite venues to shoot, and Tim and Maggie’s day reminded me exactly why!

From our very first call (which was originally for engagement photos in Big Sur), I knew this couple was something special. We hit it off immediately. After their dreamy engagement session on the Big Sur cliffs, I was so excited for their wedding day!

Even though Tim and Maggie live up in San Francisco, they’ve always had a soft spot for the Monterey area. They travel here often for weekend trips and little getaways, and when they toured The Barns at Cooper Molera, it just clicked. It was exactly what they wanted their wedding day to look and feel like, and they immediately fell in love. As someone who also adores this venue, I totally get why they chose it.

The day began in the upstairs bridal suite at The Barns, which is an amazing getting ready spot. The suite is private, tucked away, and has just enough space for quiet moments, a few sips of champagne, and those lovely aesthetic shots that set the tone for their whole wedding gallery.

One of my favorite moments from this wedding actually happened right there. Before the ceremony, Tim and Maggie snuck in a little session just the two of them. Hanging out, taking a breath, and enjoying some time together. Maggie looked so classy with her drink in hand, chilling on the loveseat. It was a total vibe!

But hands down, the most emotional part of the day was their first look. Tim and Maggie made the intentional choice to drive 30 minutes down to Big Sur for this moment. Back to the exact place we took their engagement photos. How special is that?

The drive was worth every second. Surrounded by the incredible Big Sur landscape, Tim’s reaction when he saw Maggie was everything. Tearful, heartfelt, and so full of love. As a Monterey wedding photographer, those are the moments I live for! Real emotion and genuine connection in a beautiful place.

Back in Monterey, we took full advantage of the venue’s central location. One thing I always tell my couples is how fun it is to explore downtown for portraits. The nearby restaurant Cella is a go-to of mine. It has this dreamy teal and cream exterior that really pops in photos. Plus, Monterey City Hall is just a few blocks away and has a huge grassy meadow that’s perfect for those fun, running-through-the-meadow kind of photos with lots of movement and energy.

Thanks to an amazing vendor team, everything about this wedding day flowed effortlessly. The ceremony setup was on point, the timeline ran like clockwork, and the reception out in front of the barn was absolutely gorgeous. Hats off to all the amazing vendors on this wedding day!

Tim and Maggie’s wedding was the perfect blend of intention, ease, and personal touches. They chose locations that mattered to them, carved out space and time for each other, and leaned into every moment. It was an honor to be the one capturing it all.
